My
great grandfather Fred Clabo started working in the plumbing trades in
the early 1890’s. In 1909 he opened his own plumbing company at 697 William
Street
Buffalo, NY, then the hub of business
activity in the city.

 |
Business was in full
swing as plumbing was being brought indoors for the first time. Kitchens
and bathrooms with running water, what an
exciting time to be a Plumber! My
grandfather Frederick W Clabo was born in 1909 the same year the
plumbing shop was opened and a second son Kenneth followed in 1916. Both
sons worked in the family business until Kenneth's death in 1950. My
great grandfather died in 1951.

|
My grandfather continued the business, with the
help of his wife Gert who answered the phones and did the book keeping.
My father Fred W Clabo Jr.was born in 1940 and as a young boy worked
with his father after school and during summer vacations while attending
vocational school for plumbing. After serving in the Navy he returned to
the business and worked with my grandfather until my grandfather's death
in 1969. He continued the plumbing business with his wife (my Mom) Mary
who manages the office. In 1986 I came to work in the family business
working alongside my father, learning the trade and attending
schools.
